Adult Conversation

I got to thinking today about life in general, but more specifically my life.  On days like today (and every other Tuesday and Thursday), I'm here at home by myself.  Everyone else is off to work or school.  Those are the days when I truly miss adult conversation.  I mentioned this to Todd and he wanted to know what he could do to help.  My only response?   Leave the computer here at the house.  I'd just blog, because in reality, this is my 'adult conversation' and I love it.  Guys, you may not get this, but gals, I know you will.  You know when sometimes you feel like you need to remember that you're more than the labels which define you?  Like, you're more than just "mother" or "teacher" or "wife" or "sister" or whatever the label may be.  Today, I declare myself to be a friend.  A friend to all of you who are reading this because something makes you want to know what's going on in another life besides your own.  Thank you.  Thank you for sharing life with me and letting me tell stories that don't get interrupted by, "Mommy is talking right now Sweetie."  I wish we were sitting at Starbucks having this conversation, but I've got a coffee mug full of milk (in hopes that Em won't be up all night) and I'm pretending that we are.  I ordered a Vente Sweet Passion Tea Lemonade, so I've got plenty of listening time.  So tell me, how are things for you? - bleslieSA@gmail.com

Hi Brittany -
I have a cup of coffee here with me -- sipping it gradually (I enjoy really hot coffee)as I check your website here at work. Shhhh---don't let anyone know I'm doing this at work!
As I sit here, the wind is howling outside. It is cold out there, but I really think the howling makes it seem worse.
My daughter, who is home with a 2yr old and a 5 yr old --- and on three days a week has another 2 year old, calls me occasionaly in a day "just to hear an adult" You can probably relate to that!
Here lately, I've recieved a call from the two year old ..."I go potty, Grandma" And I quickly reply, "Good for you Addison!"
Well, you were wondering how things were going for your readers -- so I just thought I'd reply. :-) YOU have such a talent for writing. I enjoy so much this blog --especially with the cute pictures of Emme. She is growing -- and looks so happy!
Now, YOU have a great day, Brittany. I am thinking of YOU
today!!

Aww! I know it's not the same but sometimes I feel the need for adult conversation after teaching high schoolers all day!

Em and Lani are super cute together! I'm so glad you got a puppy!

Coach Mama! I am loving reading what you are up to. I can't believe how big Em has got...she is absolutely adorable, and I love the new puppies name. They look to make a perfect pair! :) I miss you alot and think of you and all your adventures frequently. You are in my prayers.
Things here at Olivet are going well. I can't believe that it is my final semester though. I am currently working on my internship hours at OAK Athletic Development. Its great because Anna and I are doing it together so we keep ourselves entertained. I'm already looking forward to graduation and summer, but still trying to enjoy my last months here with all my friends. It is so weird not having to go to soccer practices...I already miss it :(
The boy is still good...he is wonderful :) We are going home next weekend for my nieces 1st birthday so I am super excited about that, as is he ;)
Well I think that just about sums up my life right now. I am glad I can keep in touch with you. Have a blessed day.
Love you,
~Rachie "Canada"

I've enjoyed reading your updates! I can totally relate about wanting to have adult conversation. I'm home with two toddlers every single day, but thankfully meet with a moms group for 2 hours on Mondays. It does wonders for my sanity. =) There are times I start up conversations with cashiers just to have adult conversation!
I'm glad everything is going well for you there!!!

Brittany,
It was really good hearing these words from you. I have been thinking and praying for you guys. Today homegroup got together at Buffalo wild wings and on the way home Dawn and I were like "We miss the Leslies." I can't imagine what your life is like right now so different from the one you had here. It has been joked about the idea that we should all spring break in South Africa, which we gladly do if it wasn't so much money.
I got a loan so I am going back to ROmania for 3 weeks two days after I graduate (the 9th). I am pretty pumped and I wish I had enough to buy an extra ticket down to South Africa to come help your mission there.
We miss you and I will continue praying for you!
