I was hoping I'd grow to like the ankle-bitter variety once I had one of my own, but the reality is, I'm not a big fan. Em's great and I know Cooper will be too, but there's still a part of me that longs for the day we can read chapter books together (I know, I'm nuts to look forward to my daughter at 13 right?). However, there is a need in our church and Sunday will be the first day of my attempt to fill that need.
As of right now, ALL the children are in church service with all the adults. To say that Em is distracting is an understatement. So, since I'm not getting any sermons anyways (and neither are any of the other parents), it was decided to start a children's service. So, this Sunday will be the first attempt on my part to teach in almost three years... I'm excited to be teaching again. It's my passion and I love it. I firmly believe that sometimes God gives you EXACTLY that which makes your heart rejoice, allowing you to hear the "Hallelujah" chorus from the angels above. I also believe that sometimes, God's gifts you in areas that aren't necessarily your "calling" but will, in fact, help you as a person and help bring you closer to Him. I'm pretty sure two-to-five year olds will teach me a thing or two... and will manage to increase my prayer life... and probably bring me closer to Him. But (and this is where it gets mushy), they scare me to death. Yep. That's right. What if, when we're studying the flood, a kid asks if Noah brought goldfish onto the ark? If that same kid were 12, I'd tell him to google it with his mom. Or, how do you explain to a 4 year-old that snakes aren't actually sin but rather that was the tool the Devil used to tempt Eve? See what I mean??? They're scary!!!
So, if you've managed to read this entire thing without falling over (either from sleep or laughter at my paranoia), please keep myself and all the little kids in your prayers. And if, you find it in your heart to pray earnestly, pray for a large cold to strike so that I can start off with a small class... you know, get my "feet wet" (yes, that was meant to be funny, don't pray any illnesses on any little people, their poor parents!).

Oh, Brittany .. are you in for a surprise. Those youngsters will win YOUR heart in two seconds -- and they will love you the second they see that YOU are going to be THEIR teacher!
God knows what He is doing by putting you in that children's setting -- cause He know what YOU can do!!
Enjoy!
Brit - sweet deal! How often will you be teaching? I hope you have a partner to trade off with! Let me know how it goes. I would love to be a sounding board. And with a 2-5 age group span, don't be over ambitious! Although knowing you, they will come out reading chapter books and acting the story :) You'll be great.
Just me Joy and no it wasn't planned that way. And I'm not ambitious, I just somehow found myself here :S Guess we'll figure it all out as we go along!
Okay, Brittany, how was your first Sunday with your "Tiny Tots"
I was thinking of you.
