We went on safari... in the middle of winter. The last time the kids and I went out on safari, it was the middle of summer and we were sweating like pigs. This time, it was dry and dusty, but at least the weather was nice! Only problem is, there is massive brush burning in the winter so a large portion of the national park we went to was being burned/just burned, and so we didn't see nearly as many animals.

But we rounded a corner and got this guy... not his best moment I'd say.

He did stick around for a bit and even posed a little for us and all our troubles. So nice of him, don't you think?

We also saw a large number of hippos. Odd since normally IF you see them, it's literally only a nostril or two. These three kept playing and tossing about for a while. The baby even yawned a time or two but I couldn't catch a good shot of it. So you get mostly birds with a few shiny lumps behind. The lumps? Yep, that's them!

And this is cliche, but he was there and totally perfect outside the window. I didn't zoom the camera or anything, how about that?

**Kia and other
avid car seat and child harness advocates avert your eyes** Since we were in the park with 5 other vehicles and I was in no hurry, the kids enjoyed a view from a new perspective. Both liked to bounce and giggle with the ruts in the road. A veritable chorus at some points!
And we saw more of these guys and deer-type animals (springbok, empala, etc) than anyone cared to admit. But it was a great time and we all seem to enjoy it... except the elephants. They didn't like that particular day, which means Grammy and Poppy will have to come back to see them another time. Gee. Darn (hehe!).

Oh, wow! What memories you are giving your children --- much more than if you were here in Bourbonnais, Il :-)
Seriously, your children are so blessed by the desire of Mommy and Daddy to "serve the Lord - wherever He wants them send them".
And, all of us back here in Bourbonnais, IL are blessed by reading your adventures and enjoying your children through pictures.
Isn't God good! He takes care of all of us!
