Johannesburg Zoo

Em has hit that age where she is aware of all moving things, especially animals. I love that she identifies things but there are times when I wish she wouldn't "roar" so loudly. Like in the middle of the check-out line with the elderly lady and her hearing aides behind us. But for the most part, it's a great experience with her and going to the zoo was no exception. Although we did go to a South African zoo, sad to say, Em's favorite exhibit was the "Farm." She was in love with all the ducks, chickens, pigs, cows, horses and the likes. At one point, while we were trying to pry her away from the mooing cow so we could meet up with friends for our picnic, I thought, "Nana and Poppy would LOVE this!"
Todd and Em started this grand adventure off by making funny faces. Not really AT anything in particular, but it did make me laugh... and a few other zoo-goers!
We all had a great time. It was a long day, but really fun. We met up with a group of friends and you know you're all in the same place in life when someone else brings a portable toddler toilet and all the kids in the group line up to use it... in the middle of a lawn... not even bothering to look at who (or what) might be witnessing their triumphant accomplishment!
We all met up on the lawn by the seal enclosure, but apparently the seal lost her partner, so they shipped her north to an aquarium for her to have some company while they got her a new friend and refurbished her home. Good news for her, but we were all rather disillusioned by the lack of seal on the "seal lawn."
Like I said, it was a long day. Cooper was so excited by all the animals and people that when we finally took a break to eat, he just crashed. I don't think it gets much cuter than this though :)
