We went camping with our church this past weekend. We arrived Friday early in the afternoon and started setting up tents and organizing things. We went camping last year and this year, since we had a working knowledge of what to expect, felt much more 'prepared.' Which is ironic because last year I was told to pack for the Arctic because of the '08 camp being so cold. Well, it ended up being blazing hot. This year, I checked the weather reports and packed modestly for both warm and mild weather. What no one anticipated was the rain. It started Friday in the evening and didn't stop. We left Tuesday.
EVERYTHING was soaking wet and just miserable. Em didn't have a single pair of shoes or socks that could withstand her tramping and stomping though every puddle and marsh she could find. I ran out of dry shoes as well. Despite the cold and wet, we had a great time. Friends of ours that we met a while back came and joined our church family, which was fantastic. There were also a few new couples Todd and I didn't know and it's always nice to meet new people from your own church... kind of like finding a $10 bill in your coat pocket, it just makes you smile and feel so lucky. We're already looking forward to next year!

Em just before getting yelled at for sitting (yes, full toosh) in a puddle she'd been eyeing for almost an hour.
Cooper took to wanting to see the sunrise, or more like the grey-rise but we won't get technical. Todd would take him out early when he was fussing so that one person was awake instead of the whole camp. Then, I'd get both kids so that Todd could sleep a bit. This is Coop waiting for me to finish feeding Em her breakfast so that he could have his banana.
