Official

Many new, and rather official things have happened in the Leslie household today. Another missionary family is leaving, and while we're sad to see them go, I'm DELIGHTED to have their dishwasher! I was planning on having this great post with pictures and everything of the installation. Problem with that plan came when the dishwasher showed up unexpectedly (I wasn't about ready to send it back so I could get the camera out) and the guys had it in and ready to go in less time than it took to get the camera... so no pictures, but I am LOVING the clean small parts and pieces to all the sippy-cups and annoying kiddy things we always have around the house.

The next major event came when we went swimming as a family and Em swam from one end of the pool to the other. She did have a small float around her middle, but she kicked, blew bubbles (and drank just a little) and did big arms and everything! (I'll get video when I can, but it didn't happen today, obviously)

The last and final surprise of the day came from Cooper. Coop has a particular distain for all things "normal." He has hated from day one being on his belly. I know you're supposed to put babies on their tummy for "tummy time" to help their neck and back muscles and such. I also know that kids are supposed to roll from their belly to their back around this age. Then in a few months, they roll from their back to their belly. Well, Cooper is my son and apparently he won't do anything unless it's on his terms. So this morning, when I put him on his play mat on his back and Todd found him on his belly. I figured it was a mistake... Then, he did it again at the pool. Again, thought I'd put him on a slant or some such. When we got home and he did it again, and again, and again, I finally grabbed the camera. Well, no mistake about it, he's mobile... I've come to the conclusion that the difference between the first and second kid was profoundly felt today. When Em first rolled over, that sentence would have had three exclamation points after it. Another milestone and my baby growing up- yeah!!! This time around, I know what it means: it means I can no longer leave him in the middle of the bed, or laying on his play mat, or sitting in his bouncer to do the dishes, take a shower, or change the laundry. This means that he's just a hair's breadth away from crawling, and then walking... With Em, I was so excited to see her grow up, but now, now I know how fast it goes and I'm just wanting to put the whole thing in slow motion. At least I have this on video and can play IT in slow motion because I doubt Cooper will be okay with putting his "growing up" on hold just for his silly ol' mommy!

Awww...your kids are growing up so fast!!! At least I am able to see them grow in this blog, even though it would be better in person.
