So today I did probably one of the dumbest things I've ever done. You see, I've always grown up with dogs and I love them. When Todd and I got married, we were in an apartment that couldn't have a dog. I was so excited for the two weeks we thought we were going to live in the house we'd bought because we could finally get a dog. Then we got a phone call and God's will took priority over my desire for a dog.. at least for the time being. So, upon arrival here, I made Todd start looking for one. Our backyard is decent and I don't feel entirely safe running (okay, brisk walking) around the neighborhood with Em in her stroller- if I were by myself, I'd be fine, but fending off someone with a stroller? Unlikely. Therefore, a dog seemed the perfect solution... except for the fact that my daughter is just learning to walk and into everything... not to mention that she's still in diapers and puppies need to be trained. However, with Em finding herself suddenly without any of the missionary interns to play with and the kids in the neighborhood at school most of the day, she's turned to needing to be at my hip constantly. I knew she'd been so good throughout everything that there had to be some backlash and I found it. She can't entertain herself for very long. That, mixed with the other reasons for already wanting a dog made it impossible to simply pass by the window today with a muddled puddle of lab puppies. The combination of me being a girl, missing home, and cute puppies?! This was a disaster in the making, for sure! So, my house now has two little girls under 9 months who both will need to be potty trained. Yeah!!! Here's where you come in though, I want a good name for her... the trend these days seems to be naming dogs with human names (for example, my folks' named their golden retriever Molly) but I want something that's unique and great. Right now (granted, she's been here for a whopping 5 hours), the puppy has slept, played with the three neighbor girls, and has provided entertainment for Em by allowing her to crawl all over her, by clapping her on the side of the head, and pulling her tail, with our puppy responding with little more than a few finger licks and heel nibbles. She seems very placid and is a wonderful honey color. I can't think of anything else you'd need to know to name her, so... start naming!

oh she's so cute! And I love the pic of her and Em! I'm not good with pets...let alone pet names but I'm excited to hear what you come up with!
OH MY GOODNESS.... HOW ADORABLE!! I love the pictures! The story is great, totally something I would fall for! Hmm.. names? I'm into human names too... our cat is named Max. I'll think on it and get back to you. Keep the pictures coming!
Well you know that I tend to be partial to the scientific names so...
Canis familiaris (domestic dog)
Labidochromis caeruleus (yellow lab)
Lemon (more for the color and sticking with the biological theme)
Lycaon pictus (African Wild Dog)
Mbwa (Swahili for dog)
Hazel (if you just want to stick with the human names...she stricks me as a Hazel)
Katie (NOT AN OPTION FOR YOUR DOG!!)
Cousin Lexi's picks - Tinker Bell, Anastasia,Isabella (bella for short- Twlight) So we have Disney names & literature. Will have to get back to you on cousin Ory's picks. Auntie Terena likes Isabella/bella.
What about Honey???? (since you mentioned she's honey colored) I'll keep thinking though......
