There are certain rights of passage. Every boy should have at least one trip to the emergency room, have a broken bone, or need stitches at some point in their life. Every girl should have some encounter with a pretty dress (either wanting or wearing one)... My daughter has gone through one of those rights of passage. The missionary interns were getting together for dinner and I was in charge of dessert. I decided to make my brownies with cookie dough topping (it's egg free so no worries!). So, I bought all the ingredients, hiked up the street to a neighbor's house to borrow beaters (you can't whip butter and sugar together with a fork... which is literally all we had) and got to work. It was a ton of fun, although Em seemed more excited about the chocolate chips than anything else. We didn't have room in the kitchen so we made our mess in the dining room. Daddy was THRILLED when he came home!!! Yeah for Mommy-Daughter time!

Baking... and other 'girlie' things

Oh Em is getting so big already!I hope you have many more cookie days! The last four days have been the most inspiring and the most beautiful days I have ever seen. The trees were glissening with angel ice and as the sun shone through their branches, one could not imagine a more awesome site on earth. It is Christmas Eve and I find myself making the traditional breakfast casserole for Erik, Kris, April and Justin. And of course Eva! Tina and Jason are in Florida and Kevin of course is still in Afganistan. I pray that you are all fine and enjoying your mission. I went by your house the other day and the yard was picturesque with the ice and sun.
love Connie

I recognize this kitchen table and the wall with MK height tickmarks on the doorway--we lived there Jan-May 2005. I thought they were going to tear those houses down....they need to! Brought back memories to us... many laughs and tears in that house during those crazy 5 months!
